CMU Music Recital

The current Blending Newsletter is the final issue of the Summer 2016 season. Our campus recently hosted a special recital performed by the Central Michigan University music department. Foodie articles feature two chef interviews and a detailed look at fresh pasta making in Bologna. We’ve also interviewed current Ganzo artist, photographer Damiano, and showcase a gorgeous, student-produced photoessay of Sienese towns.

  • FLY Debuts Summer Event Season

    The current Blending Newsletter is the first issue of Summer 2017 and is packed with fresh content from the new season! FLY inaugurated its summer event season with InGRAINed, a vintage festival featuring local artists and artisans. FUA students cover the arts, healthy recipes and sustainable wineries, local travel in Tuscany, Florentine street style, reflections on study abroad, city favorites such Ponte Vecchio and the Repubblica carousel. We also catch up with Romina Wagener, alum and chef for the Morimoto group.

  • Broadcasting Students Visit RAI

    The current Blending Newsletter is the third and final issue of Spring 2017. Broadcasting students report from a recent visit RAI, a major media channel in Italy. Also covered are a review from the recent Middle Eastern film festival in Florence, a brand new fashion column that will regularly feature looks of the month from FLY, and Florence as seen through the eyes of children.

  • Electronic Renaissance

    The current Blending Newsletter is the second issue of Spring 2017. The biggest exhibition in town this season is video artist Bill Viola’s Electronic Renaissance show at Palazzo Strozzi. The issue also features Italian films on mafia culture, a poetry selection for the Student Voice section, and fashion alum Alexandra Zofcin who recently created her own brand, The House of AmZ.

  • Apicius Conference Lineup

    The current Blending Newsletter is the first issue of Spring 2017. Get a sneak peek of the upcoming Apicius conference panelists, including top chefs and professional sport nutritionists. FUA students for the first time are publishing articles written in the Italian language focusing on the regions of Campania and Veneto. Exclusive interviews feature the next artist to exhibit at Ganzo and Apicius Alum/restaurant owner Omar Armas.

  • Oriana Fallaci Conference

    The current Blending Newsletter is the third and final issue of Fall 2016. FUA hosted its 8th annual conference in collaboration with SUNY Stony Brook University. The Oriana Fallaci theme brought together Italian journalists and international scholars to discuss the concept of the Force of Words. Also featured are an art therapy student’s internship experience, Roman explorations, and quieter, unusual Florentine destinations.

  • FUA at the James Beard Foundation

    The current Blending Newsletter is the second issue of Fall 2016. FUA participated in its 12th consecutive dinner event at the James Beard Foundation with a team of faculty members and students in NYC, who also produced a sold-out FUA alumni event. Also featured in this issue are travel reflections from Arezzo and Assisi, mini-fiction stories from Florence, and a travel writing take on what it actually means to be in a place.

  • FUA to Host Bill Foley for Photography Seminar

    The current Blending Newsletter is the first issue of Fall 2016. DIVA will welcome photographer and Pulitzer Prize winner Bill Foley from Marian University for a seminar in Florence on Oct 27. The travel section unwraps the mystery shrouding the Etruscans and concludes with a multi-voiced sound exploration of Florence. And finally, we’re excited to highlight Alum Jake Briere who cooked for Team USA at the Rio Olympics.

  • FUA Joins UNIMED

    The current Blending Newsletter is the first issue of the Summer 2016 season. An exciting update from Florence is FUA’s inclusion in the UNIMED association of Mediterranean universities. The issue also features the first summer exhibition at Ganzo by photographer Enrico Berni, travel features from Cortona, how to capture the decisive moment in street photography, creative writing, and views of Piazza Santissima Annunziata.

  • DIVA Student Exhibition
